IRS 2025 Criminal Investigation Report
The IRS Criminal Investigation Division (IRS-CI) has officially released its Fiscal Year 2025 Annual Report, which illustrates how IRS-CI safeguards taxpayers’ interests and the integrity of the financial system through innovative investigative techniques, efficient allocation of resources, and global cooperation.
IRS-CI has launched two major new initiatives:
◆ CI-FIRST (Feedback in Response to Strategic Threats)
This is a public–private partnership platform designed to strengthen communication and collaboration between IRS-CI and banks and other financial institutions, helping financial institutions better understand which information is most valuable for investigative purposes.
◆ OFRR (Optimizing Financial Records Requests)
This initiative redesigns the process by which IRS-CI submits legal and subpoena requests to financial institutions, making responses faster, more standardized, and more efficient.
USCPA Sophie Luo (羅霞) reminds that IRS tax audits are becoming faster and more precise. If you discover that you have underreported income or filed incorrect information, you should consult a professional CPA as soon as possible to avoid incurring additional and unnecessary penalties and interest.
