How to Apply for Your US Tax Records?
After you file your tax return and pay taxes, you might wonder whether your payment is successful, and whether you still have unpaid taxes.
You can apply for the tax records to check them. The tax records are included:
- How much money you owe
- Your payment history
- Your prior year adjusted gross income (AGI)
You can apply for the tax records through the following two methods.
1. Request tax transcripts online via ID.me or IRS online account.
To create an account, you have to prepare your identity certifications with a picture on them, such as drive license, State ID, or passport to verify your identity. Besides, you also need a US phone number for SMS verification.
2. Request tax transcripts by mail.
If you are not able to get your transcripts online, you can file the Form 4506-T to the IRS to request your tax transcripts by mail instead.
Please note that each transcript only covers a single tax year, and may not show the most recent penalties, interest, changes or pending actions.
